Good news for all of you game owners, Google announced on Oct. 7th that it will be launching its in-game advertising product, which has been an over-due project that Google announced its development of the program almost a year ago, it was expected by many that the program would be available around November 2007.

This is great news for me personally and for Go3 as we are currently working on developing a couple of MMO 3D games along side the browser based games we are currently working on, this new Google product would be perfect to jump start revenue’s from our games and by the time we do launch them, probably late 2009 the program should be mature enough and any issues ironed out, all my concerns are on how the ads will be displated exactly and how intrusive they will be and their possible negative effects on the game play since most MMO games reply on subscriptions and account upgrades as their revenue model and not in-game ads, it will be interesting to see how the big games will integrate this.

It also appears that flash based games can also add the ads, great news for all arcade owners and flash game developers.

“AdSense for Games delivers video ads based on intended placements, as well as image or text ads based on contextual targeting with keywords and tags supplied by developers and publishers. Advertisers are charged on a cost-per-impression or cost-per-click basis, and ad revenue is split between Google and game developers or publishers.”

Google published this video about the program…
